Gina Axford

I am thrilled to be part of the Copper Ridge’s First Grade team for the 2020-2021 school year! This will be my fifth year teaching at Copper Ridge. In the past, I’ve taught kindergarten & second grade.  I am looking forward to another year of teaching our first grade students how to read, write, spell, and become great mathematicians.

I grew up in Illinois and then moved to Arizona to attend college at Northern Arizona University. I earned my Bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in psychology in 2002. When I am not in school, I like to spend time with my husband and three wonderful children.  We also have two dogs, a bearded dragon, and a rabbit.  I enjoy family trips, baking, walking, and cooking.

My Philosophy and Goals as a Teacher:

  • I intend to help and teach each child as an UNIQUE individual having their own rate of growth and development.

  • I intend to have our classroom be pleasant, positive, secure, and a safe place to learn.
  • My goals in teaching are to help each child be happy, make friends, have a positive self-image and experience many successes through positive interaction and seeing pride in their accomplishments.

Thank you for letting me be your partner in education.  I’m looking forward to a fantastic year!
