STEAM- (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)
Tonya Connelly

I am so honored to be Copper Ridge’s STEAM and Advanced Math teacher! This is the start of my 14th year of teaching. The first nine years of my teaching journey were in a fourth grade classroom at Sycamore Elementary. This is my fifth year teaching STEAM and Advanced Math. I have the privilege of watching children grow and explore as scientists in STEAM. I also have the honor of watching children excel in their understanding of mathematics as their Advanced Math teacher.

I was born in Pennsylvania, but as a military child I was raised all over the United States. I graduated from the University of Arizona in 2007 with my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and began teaching that same year. My husband (JP) and I got married in November of 2007. I have two daughters, Molly and Lilly, who also attend CRE. I love spending time with my family, playing games, reading books, and spending time outside.

My goal in my classroom is to uphold a positive learning environment for each of my students. I strive for a classroom environment that is safe and secure so that all students who are in my care feel comfortable and aren’t afraid to take risks. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to work with your child year after year in my position; I enjoy watching them grow and mature as they go through my classroom.
